2 Celebrity DJs, 2 Weekends, 2 Smashin' Parties! Life as I know It!

An ordinary day in this city is one that's laid back and quiet. Work all day. In transit before and after, going through the busy streets...not really in a hurry but swift enough to get from one point to the other.

Nights are different though. Especially weekend nights. When the night lights are on, it signals endless fun in town. Abi Dhabi sparkles, really.

And for two weekends straight, I've been to the most awesome parties at the Palace and have met two celebrity DJs from two different continents. 

Bring Down the House with British DJ Dane Bowers happened on the 16th of March (technically, the 17th, around 2am :)) It was techno, urban, all hands up to his mix! 

And just when I thought parties at the Palace couldn't get any more fab...DJ Spinbad came to town, and brought his "big boss" along. The first time I was at the Madinat Souk Jumeirah in Dubai, Russell Peters was there. I was at the Dome and I can practically here his act throughout the night. I always watch his gigs on youtube and this man is hilarious! Then I saw his bit in "New Year's Eve", the movie with an ensemble cast led by Michelle Pfeiffer, Katherine Heigl, and Ashton Kutcher. He was his Indian self there. 

First off, DJ Jack was already revving he house music when I arrived at étoiles Thursday night. And man, believe me, this was one of DJ Jack's best nights ever. He was unbelievably on top of his game, and percussion master George Safi was in sync with him. They were lookin' and signing at each other and the result was madness on the dance floor. It was, once again, a full house night packed with groups, couples and even stags, all ready to loosen up and make this one ravin' hub.

And it was.

So when Russell Peters and DJ Spinbad set foot on the house, it was awesome madness. I knew his DJ was gonna be there, but really didn't expect Russell would have the energy to party on after his show over at Yas Island. But there he was.

He had big men to bounce off hecklers, but they were gracious to my surprise, letting me scoot over with the comedian and take some snaps. Other ladies followed suit, and then let the celeb to enjoy the rest of the night. And enjoyed he did.

He was dancin' atop the couch and bobbing up and down along with everyone as Spinbad did his thang. The music was fantastic and the mash-ups were out of this planet. George Safi revved up the beat which totally rocked the house more!

It was a blast. Really. And it felt like it was only half past midnight. Rock on. 

Best parties only happen in Abu Dhabi. Best party ever is at etoiles.

Russell Peters is in AUH....and so is his official Tour DJ, SPINBAD! And he's gonna be up at the DJ's deck at etoiles on Thursday Night to rev up another unforgettable night for party people!

He's the man up at the decks as midnight strikes for another epic BDTH. This is the man who shared the spotlight with superstars like Victoria Beckham for Top Five hits such as "Buggin' and Out of Your Mind" and his first single "Shut Up"—who doesn't know songwriter and platinum legend DJ Dane?

His mix? Classic RnB flavour and "fierce underground garage production"—who would wanna miss that?

So it's a date: tonight, 16th March 2012. You don't wanna be the "one who missed it" no do you?

It was not even midnight when I arrived at the venue, and already the club was filling up with guests who all were ready to party. All seats taken at the VIP lounge, and standing room is getting full to overflowing. I see new faces and I know in an instant they’re here to see Atlanta’s golden boy.

Even the #1 celebrity magazine Ahlan! and UAE’s premier lifestyle read Time Out Abu Dhabi sent their official lens man to cover what turned out to be one of the most awesome events hosted by Abu Dhabi’s Favourite Night Club. DJ Emtee’s mix and mash-ups eased the crowd into the night, as everyone waited for the RnB star LLOYD. It was a smashing night once again as another étoiles Urban Night unfolded. And when the young soul sensation finally came out of nowhere (really—I mean…no one saw him until he stepped up that mini stage!), ladies closed in and swooned and swayed and sang along to the sweet seduction that was Lloyd.

He was right in front of me. And he rocked my heart as he rocked the house, indeed. He strutted his thang and he serenaded every lady present that night, and maybe made a lot of gentlemen jealous and envious of the full attention he got. He reminded me of a young Michael Jackson and Usher. I heard him call himself a “rebellious romantic,” dubbing his fourth album “King of Hearts”—and these he truly is, and more.

Ahh. You have had to be there to feel his soul. He has charm and style and swagger and it was just so easy to fall for him only after a few notes. Overall there was such a great vibe in the club that night. Even after he made his exit, people stayed on the dance floor and partied on.

T’was unbelievably unforgettable.:) One of the best nights so far in Abu Dhabi.

And looking forward for more.

BRING DOWN THE HOUSE: Urban Nights at Abu Dhabi’s Favourite Night Club

Two DJs in one night + a stellar group of party people = an epic mashup night.

Who else to open the night with intense scratchwork than pioneer jockey DJ Emtee? His urban mix got everyone on their feet and hit the dance floor.  The A-crowd wasted no time—stepping into the club and onto the party scene wasting not another sec. What seemed like an ordinary Friday night turned out to be a massive bash.

Spotted amongst the crowd was DJ Jack himself, who was prepping his party mojo for his stint at the deck right after DJ Jack. And he didn’t let everyone down, for sure. Deeper in the night, his mashups got the hip hop going, with people bobbing along as the mythical DJ revved up the club with his mix.

To “bring down the house” means “to win the enthusiastic approval of the audience” (Merriam-Webster) and/or “to excite the audience into making a great clamor of approval” (thefreedictionary.com)  And this, indeed, was the case that night at AUH’s favourite nightclub. DJ Jack and DJ Emtee brought down the house and raised the success meter of Urban Nights at étoiles into a stunning level.

Party music at its best. That is what Urban Night at étoiles is all about.
